The Weekly Quickie: MeteoroiD, The 3rd Birthday, MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, MORRIE

It's not unusual in the visual kei scene for a band to make drastic changes to their image, but few are as drastic and complete as the recent reboot of MeteoroiD.  If you follow the band, you already know that their guitarist, Yutori, left the group back in September and was replaced by Mikado.  It seems the change in lineup has inspired a change in...well, everything else.  The technocolored, electropop band, METEOROID has become the dark, metal-inspired MeteoroiD.  They are so committed to the change that they have even removed their previous discography from their ohp and set any previous PV releases on their YouTube channel to private.  They have also announced the release of three consecutive singles:  Sokubaku on January 23, Fukushu on March 11, Kuroshoubi on May 13.  Check out the preview above to get a taste of their new sound.

Okay, rumor mill time.  Chatter on the internet is that guitarist Folie from The 3rd Birthday has gone missing.  I have very little details and nothing is confirmed (cuz my Japanese is rubbish).  From what I can understand from their blog post, it seems they haven't been able to contact him since the morning of the 22nd and he missed their live performance that night.  There is no other information as of yet, but we will keep you posted as things develop. If you have any information or can help out with translations, please contact us.

Last week, we reported on the hospitalization of MAXIMUM THE HORMONE's vocalist Ryo-kun for the treatment of meningitis.  I am happy to report that Ryo-kun has been discharged from the hospital and is resting at home.  He is still not 100% and will be taking a bit more time off to recover, but things are definitely looking more positive.  Be sure to keep him in your thoughts and look forward to his triumphant return.

Legendary vocalist MORRIE has announced the release of his first album in 20 years.  MORRIE has been in the jrock scene since the 80's and is most known for his work in creature creature and DEAD END before going solo.  His new alum, titled HARD CORE REVERIE, will be available Christmas day in both regular edition and special edition that includes a 72-page photobook.

And that's the Quickie.  Doukshya~ =^^=
