Shibuya Crossing Episode's 049 x 050: Memories

[049 x 050: Memories] Thanks for your feedback in last week's online poll. Enjoyed reading your answers so much that we thought of doing it again, so here we go:

VOX POP - What was the first J-Music song that you first remember listening to? What kind of memories does it bring back? It can be from an anime, TV, film, fashion, anything goes!

We're fast approaching our 50th consecutive episode here at Shibuya Crossing on CJLO 1690AM. Still don't know how we're going to commemorate it, but if you have any suggestions or ideas, please pass them along!

Wednesday's from 2 to 4pm EST (UTC-5) on CJLO. Online, on demand, and on the AM radio in Montreal at 1690AM.

Shibuya Crossing Episode 041 LIVE Wednesday January 21st!

世界のみんなさん、おはようございます!あけましておめでとう。It's great to be back on the radio.
Shibuya Crossing is back for an all new season - and will be expanding to two hours!

Testing out an all new set of covers. This time, we're playing it by theme - and a new one every week.

Fittingly enough - this week, we're calling this a "Homecoming".

By far, the best - and perhaps most convenient - spot for friends to meet up is at the famous Hachiko Square in the heart of Shibuya, in Tokyo, as showcased in our cover art.

More on tomorrow's show, Wednesday, January 21 from 2 to 4pm EST (UTC-5) on CJLO. Online, on demand, and on the AM radio in Montreal at 1690AM.

Our fun-filled summer is about to end, and so goes our weekly journey through the global crossroads of Japanese rock music.

On the last episode of Shibuya Crossing this season, we take a look back on an exciting and constantly evolving year in the world of J-Rock, Visual Kei and Japanese Pop Culture. Annotating that adventure is a colorful blend of Visual Kei ballads, including music from some up-and-coming J-Music influenced local bands based here in Canada.

As we also commemorate episode 040, we say goodbye to this show - for the time being - with your dedications, shout-outs and other random notes, as we wrap up an amazing run, and express our deep gratitude for listening to this show every week, wherever you are, from around the world.

All that and more on the 2013-2014 Season Finale Shibuya Crossing. From CJLO 1690AM in Montreal.

Shibuya Crossing Episode 039 LIVE Wednesday August 13!

Fresh Fruits, delightful Sweets, and a mixed bag of melodic treats await you on the next episode of Shibuya Crossing.

Following last week’s rock and roll journey through our vault of diverse tunes on Episode 38 - we annotate that trip with a unpredictable delightful mix that’s akin to a summer dessert. Somewhat fitting for an afternoon in August.

On Episode 39, we kick off our show with a melodic monotone mix of tracks to get you in the mood - with music from Ishige Akira, Plastic Tree, and Asian Kung-Fu Generation. We catch up on what’s happening on what has been a very busy couple of weeks in the world of J-Music. Plus our Artist Spotlight features not only one - but a combination of three artists from the fledgling Oshare Kei sub-genre.

And be sure to tune in next week too as we count down to our Season Finale on August 20th, as we switch gears and play the the best ethereal and emotionally inducing J-Rock ballads out there. If you got any tips, you know where to find us.

But for now, keep it locked in! A lovely bowl of dessert is coming up on the next Shibuya Crossing. From CJLO 1690AM.

Wednesday, August 13th at 1pm EST at CJLO.com (1690AM in Montreal), and 3pm On Demand at http://cjlo.com/?q=shows/shibuya-crossing.

After that, we turn the dial up to some good old rock and roll as we play the music of multi-talented neo-samurai guitarist and musician 雅-MIYAVI- on our Artist Spotlight. Shibuya Crossing Episode 036 LIVE Wednesday July 23rd!

FEELING MOODY? We got some music to keep you company.

On the next episode of Shibuya Crossing, our opening setlist will help you stay calm and firmly planted on your two feet (or more, if you're not a human) with a mellow and rebellious kind of mix to coincide with the weather of the, shall we say, say - rainy kind. You will hear the music of 9 GOATS BLACK OUT and marlee to start off with. Expect some additional pieces on the side we're saving for on air.

We walk down through memory lane once again to explore the music of D'ESPAIRSRAY. We'll feature them in this week's Artist Spotlight ahead of their imminent reunion appearance next week during Angelo's live concert in Japan.

Also, to ease down your despair and loneliness, how about we take you to the movies for free? The 2014 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal is in high gear and we're going to be giving away free passes to the movie of your choice. Tune in to to learn more!

We’re also playing music from some more films screening during Fantasia, and then take a look on some international J-Rock inspired artists making waves among music lovers everywhere! All on Episode 036 of Shibuya Crossing.

Wednesday, July 23rd at 1pm EST at CJLO.com (1690AM in Montreal), and 3pm on demand at http://cjlo.com/?q=shows/shibuya-crossing.

Shibuya Crossing Episode 035 LIVE Wednesday July 16th!

IN LIVING TECHNICOLOR. This week’s theme will take you on a journey to savor every delicious color of the rainbow - of J-Music that is.

We’re kicking off the show with a different mix this time as we begin from the world of electro-pop, and then we slowly segue into the indie Oshare-Kei universe. The music of BugLug, Comodo Dragon, capsule and Immi will top the shortlist. It will be very flavorful for the ears, guaranteed!

Following that, we kick it up a notch with some spice and some a dash of nostalgia, as rock icons LUNA SEA take on this week’s Artist Spotlight. As an added bonus, we’re also spinning a new track from a local J-Music talent who has an impeccable ear for good sound.

We wrap up the show with special treat! Following the launch of the 2014 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, we’re playing music from two Japanese films that will screen during the opening weekend. Find out as we unravel these tracks, plus a few surprises on the side, all on Episode 035 of Shibuya Crossing.

Wednesday, July 16th at 1pm EST at CJLO.com (1690AM in Montreal), and 3pm on demand at http://cjlo.com/?q=shows/shibuya-crossing.

To celebrate the films that will be announced at the Fantasia International Film Festival, our opening setlist will feature music from NIGHTMARE, MUCC, HYDE (L'Arc-en-Ciel), GACKT and SID. Find out what they all have in common. (Hint: it has something to do with movies).

We'll also be playing some tunes that we didn't get the chance to play last time from artists such as Arlequin, Triampersandy, HOLLOWGRAM, Monkey Majik and RUVISH.

This week's artist spotlight will showcase the sounds from MEJIBRAY - a very well-known indie Visual Kei band among overseas music fans.

Shibuya Crossing Episode 028 LIVE Friday June 6th!

On the June 6th edition of Shibuya Crossing we're taking you on a express train adventure from Montreal to Toronto, then to Tokyo - and finally around the world!

On our lineup: the complete sit-down interview with Visual Kei rock stars DaizyStripper and Rose Noire courtesy of J-Rock North Promotions and CJLO. They were the musical guest for the city's Japanese Pop Culture convention, Anime North in May of this year.

We also have a mini-feature on Montreal's very first Harajuku walk that happened in early June. We speak to one of the co-organizers of this unique outdoor event and learn more about Japanese street fashion, its origins and its influence on pop culture.

Taking it a little more back home, we play a few tracks showcasing the music of Dir en Grey. This band has been a consistent guest in the Canadian rock music scene. We finish our Artist Spotlight series on this ever-evolving band.

Also this week: new music releases, a notable artist request, a setlist drawn from Toronto's fame as a destination city for many J-Music acts, and a track we're playing that's related to rainbows.

That and more this week on Shibuya Crossing - Japanese rock music - and pop culture gone global. Catch the live edition Friday, June 6th at 9am EST on CJLO.com and at 1690AM in Montreal.

You can also catch the full episode in streaming audio the same day by 9pm EST (UTC-4) on the Episode Archives section of our home page www.cjlo.com/onair/shibuya-crossing.
