The Weekly Quickie: Sadie, sads, BABYMETAL, moumoon, Tsukasa, Yousei Teikoku, DADAROMA, Shonen Knife

It's Monday, which means it's Quickie time!  What do you want first, the good news or the bad news?  Let's go with the bad news and get it out of the way, shall we?

This one's a real bummer.  Sadie has announced they will be going on hiatus following their live at Zepp Tokyo on September 21.  They have one last release and a tour before they go.  Voyage releases on May 27 and their tour, Never Ending Voyage -we never say good bye-, starts June 6 and will run through July 28.

Japan Visual TV will be hosting an appearance by the members of JILLED RAY on March 24.  Japan Visual TV streams live on YouTube and hosts a wide range of appearances and performances, so be sure to subscribe to their channel so you don't miss out.  The March 24 broadcast will include an appearance by the members of JILLED RAY as well as live footage from their one-man at Ikebukuro EDGE on March 6 so keep an eye on that countdown clock so you don't miss it.

LIVE REPORT: Shonen Knife at The Silver Dollar Room, Toronto. Sept. 20, 2014.

 Shonen Knife is a band that should be on everyone's 'to-see' list. With over 3 decades of music and stage performance behind them, you may come in with a set of expectations, but you'll leave with an experience that's outclassed by none.

 The Silver Dollar Room is a venue which places the stage in the middle of a deep room, facing into the bar, offset by 2 live-streaming TV's at either end. Taking to the stage Naoko, Ritsuko, and Emi were met with the cheers of a sold out crowd. Though I could not see the ends of the bar for the fans, I'm sure not an eye was turned away from that stage, and it remained that way the entire night.

Interview: Shonen Knife North American Tour 2014!

No stranger to endless tour dates and trips around the world, Shonen Knife have returned stateside to once again take North America by storm! With 34 concerts, including both Toronto and Montreal Canadian dates, as well as the newly announced 10/22 date at The Knitting Factory, NYC, you'd be hard pressed not to find your way into their audience.

Inspiring, influencing and creating since their formation Dec. 29, 1981, Shonen Knife is a band that has woven it's way through rock history and clearly made a mark. In an era where many musicians come and go as though seasonal trends, they continue to evolve, yet remain true to the rock lifestyle.

Just fresh into their 2014 tour, Naoko, Tirsuko, and Emi took a moment to sit down and speak about their music, their fans and food!

Shonen Knife is taking fan requests for our 1000th show on September 16th of our North. American Tour!

The show at Turf Club in St. Paul, MN of our North American Tour 2014 will be the 1000th!

To celebrate the 1000th show, we'll take fan requests and make a set list!

The Weekly Quickie: Japan Night, the:Ø, SHONEN KNIFE

It's in with the new and out with the old. With Japan winning the bid for the 2020 Olympics, it's time for a new and improved Olympic Stadium. The old stadium, home of the 1964 Summer Olympics is set to be demolished in 2015. What does all this have to do with music, you ask? A two-night farewell concert event called simply, "Japan Night," will be held in the old stadium May 28-29. The first night, titled "Yell for Japan," will feature artists such as Ikimono-gakari, FUNKY Kato of Funky Monkey Babys, and the Gospellers. The second night, titled "Japan to the World," will feature Sekai no Owari, Perfume, Man with a Mission and L'arc en Ciel. Check the homepage for full artist listing and ticketing information.
