Aimer will be appearing at Anime Expo’s Fate/stay night [UBW] Special Event!

Even in Japan her shows are very limited in the numbers and the tickets are SOLD OUT in a short time.

Considering the fact that Anime Expo will be her first overseas show, it will be a premium experience to watch her perform!

With the awaited soon to be released album, we cannot take our eyes off this new rising star!

The Weekly Quickie: the Dice, Zonbi, SAKURA, Kuroyuri to Kage, HOLLOWGRAM, Anime Expo, The Mortal

Lineup changes everywhere!  Is it in the water?

It seems lineup changes are the thing this summer and we have another one for The Dice.  At their show earlier this month, vocalist MISS was conspicuously absent.  It has since been announced that he has officially left the group effective immediately.  The band will continue until August 21 with a support vocalist, after which they will take an activity pause.

The Weekly Quickie: SCREW, An Cafe, HOLLOWGRAM, HIZUMI, MEJIBRAY, Akabane Vulgars on Strong Bypass, mothercoat

Kind of a slow news week this week, but some really exciting stuff!

SCREW has announced the release of the sequel to their previous mini-album, Konsui.  Titled Kakusei, the album is rumored to be a contrast to its predecessor.  After the loss of bassist, Rui, Byou said "the band died," leading to the formation of Konsui.  Kakusei, however, is all about the future.  The album releases August 19 and will be preceded by a set of pre-release lives open only to those who have pre-ordered it.  The group will be sporting the Kakusei visual look and playing songs never before heard from the album.  The group will also be available for handshakes after the show.  Check the homepage for details and venues.

The Weekly Quickie: MORAN, Crimson Shiva, JILKA, WHITE JUDAS, ViX, Alice 9

I'm late, I know!  A-kon happened!  Better late than never, eh?  Well, sort of.  Looks like I'll be starting off with a stream of sucks, so hold on tight.

The first just announced yesterday and hit like an anvil.  Moran has announced their disbandment following their live on September 21.  After member losses and a planned hiatus, I guess it doesn't come as too big of a surprise, but it still hurts.  The band still has a one-man tour coming up, so make sure to support them until the end.

The Weekly Quickie: SEKAI NO OWARI, SuG, Zin, Slinger, BLITZ, SCREW, DRAFT KING

Movies, conventions, and triumphant returns!  Oh my!

SEKAI NO OWARI have announced they will be supplying the theme song for both Attack on Titan live action films.  The first installment hits theatres August 1 and features the band's newest song, ANTI-HERO.  The song will release on the single of the same name on July 29.  The second movie, titled ATTACK ON TITAN End of the World, releases September 19.  No word yet on which song will grace the opening credits of this one, but I'm sure it will be killer.

INTERVIEW: UchuSentai: NOIZ. LIVE at Anime North, May 22, 2015.

We had the chance to sit down with UchuSentai:NOIZ right at the beginning of Anime North this year. It was a pleasure to speak with them again, having last seen them at their performance 2 years prior.

The interview was set as a small press conference consisting of myself, Satty from CJLO's Shibuya Crossing and Dianna from Beachboosterradio's Beach Corner.

The Weekly Quickie: Alice Nine, R-Shitei, My Bacteria Heat Island, Magromance, Kamijo, Vanikill, Kiyoharu, RE/V

Before I get started, today is Memorial Day here in the US, and I'd like to take a moment to thank all the soldiers and their families for their service to our country.  Your strength and sacrifice is deeply appreciated.

Starting this Quickie off with happy news!  Alice Nine has announced their official comeback with their 11th Anniversary live, Re:Birth, at Toyosu PIT on August 23.  What this means for their independent incarnation, A9, I'm not really sure, but it's exciting nonetheless.  Check out the announcement trailer and try not to squeal.

LIVE REPORT: BABYMETAL at Danforth Music Hall, Toronto - May 12, 2015

LIVE REPORT: BABYMETAL
at the DANFORTH MUSIC HALL – MAY 12, 2015

BABYMETAL : Left, Moametal (Moa Kikuchi)
Center, Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) Right, Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno).
By James C. Stewart

BABYMETAL: T-DOT CONQUEST !!!

So ostensibly this was to be a review of BABYMETAL at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. But that’s too easy. Want some adjectives…?

How about Spectacular…? Ground-breaking…?  Total…Mind…Fuck?

Too harsh?

Then let’s go with Unprecedented.

Since the release of their debut/self-titled album in February of last year, the reviews have been pouring in. Everyone, with the exception of a few lonely metal elitists (and there are fewer and fewer of those) seems to agree (even Rolling Stone). BABYMETAL is the most innovative act of the 21st century…at least to date.

Highlights from the Toronto show include “BABYMETAL Bucks” tossed by adoring fans during the performance of “Onedari Daisakusen”—

BABYMETAL BUCKS (photo: Josh Campbell)
This money was handed out in the queue prior to the mayhem. Like, thousands of them. A couple of days previous BABYMETAL had played Mexico City and the audience threw some 12,000 Mexican versions of same into the air. Apparently the Canadian goal was to beat this...I'm not sure if we did. But yeah, you can see them fly in the video.

The Weekly Quickie: Momoiro Clover Z, MAN WITH A MISSION, LUNATIC FEST, GOLDEN BOMBER, MEJIBRAY, YETI

Check it out!  One with no sucks!  ^^

Hold onto your pants, folks.  I've got a cool one for ya.  Just announced, Momoiro Clover Z will be performing at Anime Expo in LA July 2-5.  Not only that, Paul Stanley of KISS will be making a special guest appearance during the show.  You may remember, Momoiro Clover Z collaborated with KISS on their last single.  This is an event not to be missed.

Review: Matenrou Opera - ether

Taka here with another review- second in a row; not too shabby!

I was honestly surprised when I received this single in the mail... but I was overjoyed! I adore Sono's voice and just the overall dynamic composition style that is Matenrou Opera.

On April 8, Matenrou Opera released their maxi-single, ether. The first thing I HAVE to note about this single is how cool the jacket is. The lyric booklet is actually sitting in the little holster that is the band (as you see above) and there is a moon that also separates and you slide in behind them, building it as a 3 layer pop-up book in a way. Not to mention, the CD is kept iridescent with white printing over the top.

This single features 3 awesome tracks:

1. ether
2. Round and Round
3. ari no koushin

Before I diagnose each song individually, I have to say I unfortunately was unable to find translated lyrics in order to discuss the lyrical content. If you happen to find any, feel free to tell me so I can look into them!

Also, you cannot necessarily judge this single as a whole, since the style changes from track to track. I feel this single has a little something for all of your tastes.

INTERVIEW: VAMPS Live at Welcome to Rockville

Right smack in the middle of their run with Nikki Sixx on SIXX:AM's Modern Vintage tour, VAMPS made a quick stop in Florida to perform in Monster Energy's Loudest Month series, rocking the stage during Ft. Rock in Ft. Meyers and Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville.  I caught up with Hyde and KAZ after their smoking set in Jacksonville on April 24 and, with the help of translator, Hiroki, chatted about touring with an American legend, performing in a foreign country and vampire evolution.

You guys have been playing a LOT lately. You’ve been very very busy. Do you do anything special to stay in shape, maintain your voice, anything like that?

H: We have kind of a hard time, of course. With the one man tour we get kind of tired, but everyday something new happens and it’s kind of refreshing.

Speaking of new things, Nikki Sixx recently played VAMPARK in Japan with you guys and now you are opening for him on his SIXX:AM Modern Vintage Tour. How did that come about?

H: Nikki knows that I’m a big fan of Motley Crue and Nikki Sixx. We recently had a big gig in Japan called VAMPARK Festival and we supported SIXX:AM and helped them get into the Japanese market. Now, we are with SIXX:AM because they are trying to give back for what we did for them.

LIVE REPORT: VAMPS @ Welcome to Rockville

The Welcome to Rockville experience was, as you may have already heard, full of ups and downs. Day one was fraught with inclement weather which saw the entire crowd of almost 70,000 people evacuated no less than twice. Everyone was ordered to either go back to their cars or huddle with the masses under a nearby overpass until the storm cleared. Chants of “rain or shine” could be heard throughout the crowd as social media blew up with complaints tagged #WelcometoRainville from people desperate to see their favorite bands and even demanding refunds. I personally experienced only the later of the two evacuations and, honestly, it was a bit frightening. Between the angry people and the ominous black clouds looming overhead, there were moments where I feared for our safety; but after about an hour, the storm passed and we were allowed back into the park which was, by now, more like a mud pit. The storm had whole areas washed out and moving from one part to the next required waders.

The Weekly Quickie: Sadie, sads, BABYMETAL, moumoon, Tsukasa, Yousei Teikoku, DADAROMA, Shonen Knife

It's Monday, which means it's Quickie time!  What do you want first, the good news or the bad news?  Let's go with the bad news and get it out of the way, shall we?

This one's a real bummer.  Sadie has announced they will be going on hiatus following their live at Zepp Tokyo on September 21.  They have one last release and a tour before they go.  Voyage releases on May 27 and their tour, Never Ending Voyage -we never say good bye-, starts June 6 and will run through July 28.

Review: Nightmare - blur

Hello everyone- Taka here with another review on Project: Lixx!

I'm majorly excited to bring this to you because it's on a release from a very special band for me. Nightmare was my first ever Japanese rock experience when I was 13. It started with Alumina, then exploded to me finding as much of their discography as was available at that time on YouTube (which also lead to "recommended artists" and me finding all of the favourites I hold dear today).

On January 7, Nightmare released their 24th single [blur], about 2 and a half months before their most recent album, [Carpe Diem] (released March 25). I have yet to get my hands on Carpe Diem but the title track of this single does appear again on it.
The three tracks for this single are:

1. blur
2. Buddies
3. Such A Nonsense System

It's been awhile since I listened to a full new single from Nightmare. I admittedly haven't been keeping up with them in the past 3 years, but I'm always open and excited to jump back into this band's amazing music to see how they're doing. Without further adieu, my review on each track of this single!

It's another week, which means another quickie.  I've got some exciting stuff for you.

BREAKERZ announced their comeback not too long ago, and to sweeten the deal, they've made their comeback live completely free!  The live will take place on May 20 to coincide with their comeback single release, WE GO, but venue and further details have not yet been announced.
